Nearly 30 years after portraying the beloved Princess Sarah, Camille Prats remains grateful that audiences still remember her iconic role.
Speaking with Manila Standard Entertainment, she expressed gratitude that the role has remained in the audience’s consciousness, noting that even after the role has opened doors for her.
“I’m so grateful that people still remember my character, even up to now,” Camille said. “Before, I used to question it because my struggle growing up was to break free from that role. For a very long time, people saw me as Princess Sarah, especially when I had a child. They were like, ‘Huh? Princess Sarah has a child?’ So I made a lot of efforts to mature and did so many things to move away from being Princess Sarah.”
Camille starred as Sarah Crewe in Sarah… Ang Munting Prinsesa, a 1995 adaptation of A Little Princess. The film cemented her as one of the most recognizable child stars of the ‘90s. Despite her early efforts to move past the role, she has come to embrace its significance.

“I truly see it as a blessing because that was the turning point of my career. And it’s also something that’s really nice to look back on,” she said. “I think Sarah will always have a special place in the hearts of those who grew up in the ‘90s.”
Now an actress, TV host, and mother, Camille has built a career beyond her childhood fame.
Camille is one of the lead stars of the latest GMA afterrnoon drama premiering today – Mommy Dearest.
In the series, she takes on her first villain role as Olive, an overprotective mother whose love for her daughter, Mookie (Shayne Sava), borders on obsession. The psychological drama explores Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, a disorder in which a caregiver fabricates or induces illness in someone under their care.
The series, directed by Ralf Manuel Malabunga, also stars Katrina Halili, Dion Ignacio, and Winwyn Marquez.
Camile, a mother of four—including two teenagers—found a personal connection to her role.
“We all have good intentions for our children, even if sometimes they feel suffocated or hurt,” she said. “Even if they don’t always understand where our love is coming from, it always stems from good intentions. I think that’s also the message of Mommy Dearest.”
“The series is anchored in love, but sometimes, we act on the belief that our intentions are good, without realizing they may not be what’s best for others. It’s a reminder that love comes in different forms—what feels like love to us may not be the kind of love others need,” she added.
Mommy Dearest airs weekdays at 3:20 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime and Kapuso Stream, with global audiences able to watch via GMA Pinoy TV.
