Boy Abunda launches ‘ABA’ on ‘CIA with BA’

Public service and talk program ‘CIA with BA’ introduced a new segment called ‘Ask Boy Abunda’ (ABA).

In the episode aired on Sunday, January 12, Boy Abunda shared that the concept for the segment originated during the pandemic.

“Naisip ko po na makatulong kahit konti. Dahil hindi napatigil ng pandemya ang entertainment business, napunta lamang po sa digital. Umuso po ang maraming palabas, maraming talent ang na-discover during the pandemic,” the award-winning host explained.

He emphasized that the goal of ‘ABA’ is “to be able to answer questions from people interested in the business of show.”

One of the questions raised during the segment’s debut came from actress and event host Chase Romero.

“Gaano po ba talaga kahalaga ang management sa isang artist, at kailangan po ba talagang merong manager?” she asked.

Tito Boy responded:

“Mahalaga po ang pagkakaroon ng manager, lalo na kapag ika’y mag-isa na talent at walang meron sa pamilya na nagkaroon ng hilig maging artista.”

“Ang pagiging talent has something to do with pagiging talented—marunong ka bang kumanta? Marunong ka bang umarte? Marunong ka bang mag-host? At marami pang iba. Pero hindi po humihinto doon. Kailangang ibenta, i-enhance, at i-develop ‘yung talent na ‘yon. Kailangan nasa tamang brand image ‘yung talent na ‘yon. Kailangan mo ng network,” he added.

Tito Boy stressed the importance of having a manager, saying,

“Kailangan mo ng manager dahil your manager provides all of the above.”

Aside from answering questions about talent management, Tito Boy also gave practical advice on hosting, achieving longevity, and overcoming burnout in the entertainment industry.

‘CIA with BA’ continues the legacy of the late Senator Rene Cayetano and airs every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
