The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to proclaim Bagong Henerasyon (BH) party-list next week after the Comelec en banc dismissed with finality the disqualification case filed against the group and its nominees.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia confirmed that with the ruling now final and executory, BH is qualified to assume its congressional seat. The proclamation may be held at the Comelec office in Intramuros, Manila.
Garcia emphasized that the poll body has not received any temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Supreme Court that would prevent the proclamation from proceeding. “We issued that order certifying the en banc decision. The entry of judgment is now final,” he said.
Meanwhile, Comelec is also working to resolve all pending disqualification cases involving other party-list groups and candidates before the June 30 assumption of office. This includes the case of Duterte Youth, who participated in the 2025 midterm elections.
Garcia said it is in the best interest of all concerned groups to await final rulings before taking office. “That is the obligation of the Comelec—to ensure there are no legal questions once representatives assume their posts,” he added.
