CLICK party-list lauds DICT’s CLICK Project

The Department of Information and Communications Technology is on the right track in pursuing digital transformation via the flagship Project CLICK (Courses for Literacy in Internet and Computer Knowledge), former anti-graft commissioner Nicasio Conti said.

Conti, the first nominee of the Computer Literacy Innovation Connectivity and Knowledge (CLICK) party-list, said the move was in line with their advocacy of ensuring free internet access to all Filipinos across the country.

“Every Filipino should have access to the internet — a strong connection. Because having internet access or data is no longer a luxury but a necessity these days,” he said.

“We will be pushing for lower fees for internet data if elected to Congress. We had already pushed for a 20 percent discount for students in buying data or load. We want everybody to have a free access to the internet,” he added.

DICT Secretary Henry Aguda earlier said as part of waging a Digital Bayanihan, at least 75 laptops were turned over to two community colleges in Camarines Sur — 50 units to the Governor Mariano E. Villafuerte Community College (GMVCC) in Libmanan, and 25 units to Baao Community College (BCC).

The initiative falls under DICT’s flagship Project CLICK (Courses for Literacy in Internet and Computer Knowledge), which champions the belief that digital access is a basic right and not a privilege.

For students, teachers, non-teaching staff, and even local government workers, these laptops open new pathways to learning, innovation, and opportunity, Conti said.

Conti said the DICT should target the Visayas and Mindanao next.
