Vice President Sara Duterte has confirmed her attendance at the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP) – Laban’s miting de avance scheduled for May 8 at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Duterte explained she was unable to join the party’s previous and upcoming rallies due to her commitments abroad, particularly her time in The Hague.
“I don’t have a schedule with them yet except the Miting de Avance in Manila. Because when I decided to campaign for the senators of President (Rodrigo) Duterte when he was brought to The Hague, the PDP has finalized their schedule,” VP Sara said in Filipino.
“That (schedule) cannot be changed because everything has been laid out. So, what we discussed with the secretary-general of PDP, Atty. Wendel Avisado, is that I will be joining the Miting de Avance,” she added.
VP Duterte’s participation is expected to boost the final campaign push for the PDP-Laban senatorial slate ahead of the May 12 national and local elections.
Re-electionist Senator Ronald Dela Rosa affirmed this, saying the vice president’s endorsement could significantly strengthen his and the party’s chances in the 2025 polls.
“This is a big boost to our chances of winning,” Dela Rosa said in a statement.
