The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday announced that Alert Level 3 (Voluntary Repatriation Phase) has been raised in Israel and Iran effectively immediately.
This means the DFA highly discourages Filipinos from traveling to both countries, while those currently based in either are encouraged to voluntarily return to the Philippines.
According to the Foreign Affairs Department, Alert Level 3 is issued when violent disturbances or external aggression occur in a limited area.
“All overseas Filipinos in Israel and Iran are enjoined to return to the Philippines. Travel by Filipinos to both these countries is highly discouraged, due to the ongoing crisis and the actual closure of their airspace and seaports,” the DFA said.
It clarified that these alert levels will be “subject to periodic review,” in consideration of the on-ground situation.
Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Israel and Iran who wish to access the government’s help in voluntary repatriation are advised to coordinate with the respective Philippine embassies in Tel Aviv, Israel (+972 54 466 1188), and Tehran, Iran (+989 12 213 6801).
