VP Sara Duterte now in Australia for ‘personal trip’—OVP

Vice President Sara Duterte is currently on a “personal trip” to Australia.

On Friday, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) released a statement announcing that Duterte is in Australia for a personal visit. She is set to attend the “Free Duterte Now” rally scheduled for June 22, 2025, in Melbourne.

According to the OVP, Duterte left Manila at midnight last Tuesday and arrived in Melbourne early Wednesday morning.

This latest trip comes just 10 days after she and her family visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the vice president attended the Independence Day celebration and engaged in an OVP program consultation with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Duterte is facing seven articles of impeachment, which include threats to the lives of the First Couple and Speaker Martin Romualdez. The charges cite sedition, loss of public trust, and misuse of public funds. She was impeached on February 5 by the House of Representatives, with the articles transmitted to the Senate on the same day.

Last month, the vice president also visited Qatar, where she met with overseas Filipino workers, and celebrated her 47th birthday in the Netherlands with her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained in The Hague on charges related to crimes against humanity stemming from the controversial war on drugs.

During her travels to Qatar and the Netherlands, Sara Duterte was accompanied by her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman. She was also joined by Senator Imee Marcos during her meeting with Filipinos working in the oil-rich state.
