President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. said Wednesday he tasked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to reconstruct San Francisco High School in Bago Bantay, Quezon City after it was destroyed in a fire triggered by faulty electrical wires.
“I have directed the DPWH to immediately begin the construction of a safer, larger, and better building for San Francisco High School. I am also ordering the inspection and upgrading of electrical systems in all schools nationwide to prevent similar incidents,” he said.
President Marcos and Department of Education Secretary (DepEd) visited the fire-hit school and inspected the burned structure with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and other school officials as well as firefighters.
“We will replace everything that was lost and will continue to support the students and teachers so that learning and teaching will not be disrupted,” the President added.
The school was hit by fire on Sunday, June 15, before the scheduled opening of classes and reached a third alarm, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.
