House Speaker Martin Romualdez paid his respects to the late House of Representatives committee on ways and means chief of technical staff Director Mauricio ‘Morrie’ Pulhin at the Loyola Memorial Chapels in Commonwealth, Quezon City on Tuesday, June 17.

In a series of photos posted on X (formerly Twitter), Romualdez was seen along with Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre and House Secretary-General Reginald Velasco trying to console the grieving members of the Pulhin family.

Besides offering prayers and condolences, Romualdez assured the victim’s widow and his loved ones that justice will be served. The Speaker hailed Pulhin as a dedicated public servant, who did not deserve such a gruesome end.

Pulhin was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen who gatecrashed at the birthday party of his daughter on Sunday, June 15.

In a statement on Monday, Romualdez expressed grief and outrage over the incident, calling it a brutal and senseless act of violence that must not go unanswered.

“I am deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic death of Director Mauricio ‘Morrie’ Pulhin,” Romualdez said. “This crime must not go unanswered. Justice must prevail,” he added.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) launched an ongoing investigation to resolve the case and apprehend the people behind the killing.
