The Asia Dengue Voice and Action Group (ADVA) on Monday stressed the importance of mass vaccinations in curbing the rising number of dengue cases in the Philippines.
ADVA is a scientific working group dedicated to translating dengue vaccine science into actionable strategies for policymakers, healthcare workers, and communities
During its Asia Dengue Summit 2025, the organization cited the rising cases of the illness as part of an increasing trend in recent years.
More than 100,000 cases of the disease have been recorded for the first half of the month in the Philippines, as earlier reported by the Department of Health (DOH).
Doctor Lulu Bravo, a member of the summit’s committee, cited a soon-to-be-published study that showed the Philippines’ increased confidence in dengue vaccines at 85 percent.
“It is very important to listen to (those who are) vaccine hesitant. What we do for them is to give them some points in educating and empowering them,” Bravo said.
ADVA also called for a closure on the Dengvaxia case, adding that there are new vaccines being developed such as QDENGA and CYD-TDV. The group likewise called on the government to maintain surveillance in cases and enforce political will in mitigating this disease.
