E-Governance Act seen to streamline public service

House ICT Committee Chair and Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco said the passage of the E-Governance Act will speed up government services and simplify procedures through a unified digital system.

The proposed law is among President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s priority measures and aims to establish an Integrated Government Network (IGN) to interconnect all government websites and applications.

Tiangco said the IGN will eliminate redundant steps and promote faster, more responsive services while fostering a digitally empowered government.

The bill also aims to boost transparency and accountability, with digital records enabling citizens to access information and monitor government activities.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will lead implementation, ensuring uniform technical standards across agencies. Tiangco said this transformation is vital in building a globally competitive “Bagong Pilipinas.”
