Over 89,400 local and overseas job vacancies will be offered by 968 participating employers across 49 job fair sites nationwide on Thursday as part of the celebration of the 127th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The Labor Department will likewise distribute P264 million worth of emergency employment and livelihood assistance to 37,593 disadvantaged workers.
It encourages job seekers to explore local work opportunities primarily in positions such as sales clerks or assistants, production operators, call center representatives, service crew, and loan officers.
In a statement, DOLE said the job fair sites will host a one-stop shop of government services to assist with pre-employment document processing and other auxiliary needs. Services include career development support, labor regulations consultations, and programs for livelihood, skills training, and entrepreneurship.
A total of P14.41 million under the department’s Adjustment Measures Program (AMP) will also be distributed to 253 beneficiaries, another P14.55 million in stipends will be paid out to 2,926 beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program (GIP), and P324,216 in salaries will go to 99 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).
The Labor Department is also bringing its key services closer to Filipino workers and job seekers by participating in the Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo caravan at Rizal Park, Manila, from Tuesday to Wednesday, organized by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
Among the services to be offered are the renewal of PRC licenses, application for productivity toolbox assistance, filing of labor concerns through the DOLE Assistance for Request Management System, filing of employees’ compensation claims, registration with PhilJobNet, livelihood and emergency employment consultations, legal advice, and job fair pre-registration assistance.
