Kabataan Party-list has expelled one of its members following allegations of sexual misconduct made public in a viral Facebook post earlier this week.
In a statement, the group said it had been aware of the incidents since April and immediately conducted an internal investigation. The accused member was barred from participating in any organizational activities during the probe.
Kabataan National President Julius Cariaga said the group is prepared to support the survivor should they decide to pursue legal action. “We fully support the possible filing of legal charges against said accused for remedies beyond the authority of the organization,” he said.
The party-list also provided mental health consultations and emotional support to the survivor and reaffirmed its commitment to accountability.
Kabataan admitted to lapses in enforcing gender-sensitive policies and pledged to strengthen internal safeguards moving forward.
