Two ranking police officials have been included in the latest reorganization of the Philippine National Police, including its new intel chief.
In an order dated June 2 and made public Friday, PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III designated Brig. Gen. Wilson Lopez as head of the Directorate for Intelligence (DI).
Lopez, a member of the PNP Academy “Tagapaglunsad” Class of 1993, rose to the top intel post after serving as its deputy director.
Lopez earlier served as the country’s police attaché in Washington.
He was a former director of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office and chief of staff of the Southern Police District.
He replaced Maj. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque, who was designated as director of the National Police Training Institute.
Obinque will replace his mistah from Philippine Military Academy “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992, Maj. Gen. Ronald Lee, who retired from the police force at the age of 56 on May 5.
