DHSUD eyes piloting rental houses around UP Diliman

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said Friday it wants to pilot renting houses inside the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman in Quezon City under the Marcos administration’s expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.

Housing czar Jose Ramon Aliling, along with the other DHSUD officials, recently met with UP President Angelo Jimenez and other university officials to discuss this proposal.

Aliling said they all agreed to come up with a memorandum of understanding to give way to a rental housing scheme for UP constituents. He said the government through DHSUD will seek funding for the project.

“We will provide the necessary technical assistance to ensure the success of this collaboration. Once approved, DHSUD stands committed to fund the land development portion for the pilot project,” Aliling said.

The proposed pilot project has the support of the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund.

Aliling tasked his officials to work closely with the UP management for the smooth implementation of the proposed pilot rental housing project under 4PH.
