PHLPost honors Pope Francis with special stamps

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) released a special commemorative stamp honoring the late Pope Francis.

The stamp is presented in a se-tenant format that consists of a connected pair, each bearing a unique design. These correspond to the late pontiff’s spiritual humility, as well as his strong advocacy for peace, social justice, and environmental stewardship.

The format likewise symbolizes the dual aspects of his papal mission and influence across both religious and global humanitarian efforts.

According to PHLPost, a total of 20,000 copies of the commemorative stamp were printed for this release.

These are complemented by 1,000 pieces of the Official First Day Cover (FDC), which includes the newly issued stamps and a cancellation postmark stamped with the official release date.

“Through this stamp, we are sending a message of unity, love, and faith that transcends borders. It is our humble way of honoring a global religious figure who has touched countless lives, including millions of Filipinos,” Postmaster General and CEO Luis Carlos said.

PHLPost previously issued several stamps in honor of the late Pope Francis, including a commemorative stamp in 2015 during his historic apostolic visit to the Philippines, as well as in 2014 to mark the first anniversary of his papacy.
