Teves set for arraignment before Manila court over murder, other charges

Former Negros Oriental congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr. has been scheduled for arraignment tomorrow (June 5) before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 12.

In a message, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago said the former lawmaker will be escorted by the agency to the said court at 8:30 a.m.

Judge Renato Enciso will preside over the arraignment, which will cover one count of murder as well as charges related to illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

During the arraignment, Teves will plead either guilty or not guilty to his alleged crime.

However, the NBI revealed that Teves also faces 10 counts of murder, 13 counts of frustrated murder, and four counts of attempted murder before another Manila RTC branch.

This is on top of a violation of the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012 before the Quezon City RTC and murder before the Bayawan City RTC.

After being deported by Timor-Leste, Teves is now under NBI custody at its detention facility inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa.
