The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that there will be no number coding in effect on Friday, June 6, 2025.
In its advisory released on Tuesday, the agency stated, “The implementation of the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), or number coding scheme, is suspended on Friday, June 6, 2025, in observance of Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.”
On this day, vehicles with license plates ending in 9 and 0 will be allowed to travel on the main streets of Metro Manila during the coding hours.
The number coding system was designed to regulate the presence of vehicles on major roads on specific days based on the last digit of their license plate. The coding system applies as follows: 1 and 2 for Monday, 3 and 4 for Tuesday, 5 and 6 for Wednesday, 7 and 8 for Thursday, and 9 and 0 for Friday.
The coding hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday, except on holidays.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued Proclamation No. 911, declaring June 6, 2025, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha. This Proclamation was signed by the President on May 21.
Eid’l Adha is the second-most significant event in the Islamic calendar, during which Muslim families gather to honor the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (Alayhis Salam) to Allah, celebrating with gifts and feasting.
This occasion also marks the conclusion of the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is one of the five pillars of Islam.
