State weather bureau PAGASA warned of widespread incidents of flooding as heavy rains battered Metro Manila and other areas of Luzon on Monday morning attributed to the effects of the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat.’
Based on its 5:00 a.m. general weather advisory, PAGASA has forecast between 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.
“Moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite and Rizal within the next two hours,” the weather bureau noted in a separate Thunderstorm advisory.
PAGASA advised the public to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with the adverse weather conditions, including severe flooding and landslides, particularly in highly urbanized and low-lying areas.
