Iloilo City – The 11th Iloilo Bike Festival officially opened on May 31, 2025, at Park Square, Iloilo Business Park, Megaworld, launching a two-week celebration of cycling that brings together riders of all ages for a series of races, exhibitions, and community-led initiatives.

This year marks the longest-running edition of the festival, which has grown into one of the city’s most anticipated annual events.

The expanded schedule includes competitive and recreational biking activities aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle, environmental protection, and a strong sense of community.

Present at the launch were Retired Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, Vice Chairman of the Iloilo Bike Council; Jay Treñas, Assistant Director of the Bike Festival; Festive Walk Mall General Manager Karmela Jesen; and Architect Wilfredo Sy Jr.

Executive Assistant Jay Treñas, delivering the message of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, underscored the city’s commitment to strengthening its reputation as the country’s bike capital.

He said the festival is not only a celebration of cycling but a platform to advance active transport, sustainability, and wellness across the nation.

“For our Bike Festival, we have not only sustained this event, but elevated it into one of Iloilo’s most highly anticipated annual events, inspiring communities and strengthening our shared vision for a vibrant cycling culture,” Treñas said.

“Now, after 11 years, we are celebrating over two weeks because of the number of cycling groups that have emerged—this is how we move forward, one pedal at a time,” he added.

On opening day, the festival featured a Bike Exhibit at SM City Iloilo and a Push Bike Race at the Parking Terminal of Iloilo Business Park.

In the coming days, the event will roll out a series of activities, including a Bike Clinic, Grand Fun Ride, Skate and BMX Street Competition, Battle of the Bands, Cycling Cities Conference, I-Bike to Work: From Wheels to Reels Contest, Mega Criterium Race, Tour de Iloilo, Ambitious Bike Race, and a Duathlon.

With participation from both local and visiting cyclists, the festival continues to push Iloilo City toward its goal of becoming a model for bike-friendly cities in the Philippines.
