The Department of National Defense (DND) on Thursday said Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. is set to attend the 22nd International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue from May 30 to June 1 in Singapore.
Accompanied by senior defense and military officials, Teodoro will engage in a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with defense counterparts from various countries.
“The engagements aim to discuss regional and global security issues and strengthen defense and security cooperation with allies,” the DND said.
His participation follows President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s keynote address at last year’s forum and reflects the Philippines’ continuing commitment to upholding a rules-based international order.
Teodoro is expected to emphasize the country’s dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region through dialogue and collaboration.
The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue serves as a premier platform for defense ministers, military leaders, and policy experts to address emerging security challenges and promote regional cooperation.
