The Philippine Air Force (PAF) reactivated its two restored strike aircraft, the MD-520MG and AW-109AH, at Major Danilo Atienza Air Base in Sangley Point, Cavite City.

This reactivation marks a significant step in enhancing the PAF’s operational capabilities.

A combat-proven platform since 1990, the MD-520MG remains a mainstay for close air support missions. Meanwhile, the AW-109AH, inducted in 2015, introduced night strike capabilities to the fleet.

According to PAF, their reactivation strengthens the 15th Strike Wing’s ability to deliver rapid and precise airpower in support of joint operations throughout the archipelago.

In his address, PAF Chief LtGen Arthur Cordura urged the 15th Strike Wing to maintain unwavering dedication and adopt a proactive stance in planning and executing maintenance programs.

He stressed that these efforts must go beyond simply achieving operational readiness targets, emphasizing the critical role these aircraft play in maintaining deployable capabilities at a moment’s notice.
