Former President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte still enjoy immense popularity after a recent survey by Pulse Asia Research, Inc. found that more than half of Filipinos disagree with the strongman’s arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and his daughter’s impeachment.
The survey, which was conducted between May 6-9 and was released on Monday, showed that 50 percent of citizens disagreed with the impeachment case against the Vice President as opposed to 28 percent, who viewed it positively.
In the same vein, 58 percent of respondents reportedly disagreed with Duterte facing trial before the ICC over allegations of extrajudicial killings during his administration. Only 26 percent saw merit in his arrest, majority of these Filipinos are from Metro Manila (43%).
Pulse Asia released these findings as part of its post-midterm elections analysis, reflecting the sentiments of the general public.
