Philippines to host 60 Southeast Asian content creators in bootcamp

The US Embassy in the Philippines will host a Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) regional workshop in Manila from May 28 to June 1.

A total of 60 young content creators from Southeast Asia, including 10 from the Philippines, will meet to build new connections and improve their digital storytelling skills.

The “Creators Co-Lab: YSEALI Bootcamp for Digital Creators” will cover topics like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, brand development, and intellectual property with the help of social media mentors, including journalist Jacque Manabat.

“You are not just creating content… You are bridging connections. Your story and creativity matter,” Manabat told the participants during the virtual orientation session on April 6.

The participants will likewise visit the Manila offices of leading American tech companies such as Microsoft and Meta.

All participants of the workshop will become members of the US government and YSEALI exchange program alumni networks—potentially opening doors to opportunities, including grants and networking.

The “Creators Co-Lab: YSEALI Bootcamp for Digital Creators” is implemented by the Out of the Box Media Literacy Initiative through funding from the US Embassy in the Philippines, in partnership with the US Mission to ASEAN.

“We are thrilled to support Southeast Asia’s vibrant community of content creators… These digital innovators are revolutionizing how we stay informed and connected,” US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson said.
