The Philippine National Police (PNP) will expand the scope and depth of its anti-illegal drug operations nationwide to pursue not only major syndicates but also street-level offenders.
This is following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to maintain and intensify the campaign against illegal drugs.
In just two weeks, from May 4 to May 17, the PNP conducted up to 664 anti-illegal drugs operations in various parts of the country, resulting in the arrest of 588 individuals involved in illegal drugs.
Seized during the operations were a total of 2,082 grams of shabu and 23 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of P14,162,488.40 based on standard drug price.
PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized that the campaign against illegal drugs remains the organization’s top priority and will be implemented aggressively at all levels.
“We wholeheartedly comply with the President’s order. We will pursue those involved in illegal drugs, from big syndicates to small street pushers. No one will escape the law, and we will ensure that those who destroy lives and communities through illegal drugs will be caught, prosecuted, and held accountable,” Marbil said.
To further strengthen the campaign, newly appointed PNP Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) Officer-in-Charge BGen Jason Capoy is currently finalizing his proposed anti-drug strategy that will be submitted to the Chief PNP in the coming days.
The DEG has arrested over 25 most wanted individuals in a series of anti-illegal drug operations nationwide, yielding over P11 million worth of narcotics from the suspects.
While the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) remains the lead agency in the government’s anti-drug campaign, the PNP has assured continued and strengthened coordination and collaboration with PDEA to ensure that operations have a broader impact at the ground level.
“This is not just a government campaign—it is a fight for the future of our communities. The PNP will not back down. We will continue until our streets, communities, and the entire country are completely free from the scourge of illegal drugs,” Marbil said.
