Alice Guo camp files counter-affidavit over raps

Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo on Wednesday filed her counter-affidavit before the Department of Justice (DOJ) on tax evasion, falsification, and graft complaints in connection to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

“We have already filed a counter-affidavit in the new cases filed by the NBI [National Bureau of Investigation]. This is what was filed… two or three months ago, so we just filed counter-affidavit for the cases, tax evasion, falsification, and violation of [Republic Act No.] 3019,” said lawyer Nicole Hamilla, one of Guo’s legal counsels.

Hamilla explained that the counter-affidavit for the falsification case was anchored on the allegation that Guo is not a Filipino citizen.

The lawyer added there was no violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act as the former mayor only performed official duties.

Meanwhile, the transfer of shares without payment of taxes involves no gain such that there is no tax evasion.

Guo is still facing money laundering and a second falsification case pending with the DOJ.
