Several communities across Northern Mindanao and Davao regions felt a strong magnitude-5.2 tectonic earthquake Monday with aftershocks expected, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In an initial bulletin, Phivolcs located the tremor at four kilometers southeast of Santo Tomas in Davao del Norte, roughly 31 kilometers away from the capital city of Tagum. It struck at 11:41 a.m. and measured 32 kilometers deep.
The state seismic agency listed the following instrumental intensities as of this posting:
Intensity 3 – San Fernando, Bukidnon; Magpet and Kidapawan City, Cotabato; Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental
Intensity 2 – M’lang, Cotabato; Matanao, Davao del Sur; Nabunturan, Davao de Oro
Intensity 1 – Kalilangan, Libona and Malitbog, Bukidnon; Magsaysay and Davao City, Davao del Sur; Balingasag and Initao, Misamis Oriental
