Navy marks 127th year with mangrove planting

IN conjunction with the 127th Philippine Navy pre-anniversary celebrations, the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM), in collaboration with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Zamboanga City, organized a mangrove planting and coastal clean-up activity on May 7, 2025, in Barangay Talabaan.

The initiative brought together over 60 volunteers from NFWM’s operational and tactical control units, focusing on preserving and rehabilitating the coastal ecosystem.

The activities also included an environmental awareness session, emphasizing the vital role of mangroves in protecting coastal areas, supporting marine biodiversity, and combating climate change.
