NDRRMC under ‘red alert’ in three regions for Eleksyon 2025

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has declared a ‘red alert’ status in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Western Visayas, and Central Visayas leading up to the 2025 National and Local Elections this Monday, May 12.

A ‘red alert’ is the highest level of readiness to address ongoing or anticipated emergencies. This status mandates full staffing at the NDRRM Operations Center and immediate coordination among agencies.

Under this level, uniformed personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other relevant agencies are required to deploy detailed duty officers to the NDRRMOC for 24-hour rotational duty.

In preparation for the 2025 polls, the NDRRMC has also declared a ‘blue alert’ status in several areas.

These include the NDRRMOCs in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccskargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

A blue alert status indicates heightened preparedness for slow-onset hazard events or potential escalation of emergencies.

Key personnel from the Office of Civil Defense, along with uniformed personnel from AFP, BFP, PCG, PNP, and other agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) are required to render 24-hour rotational duties at the NDRRMOCs.

These measures ensure readiness and effective response to emergencies during the critical election period, according to NDRRMC.
