Families of victims of extrajudicial killings (EJK) under former President Rodrigo Duterte continue to demand justice as legal proceedings at the International Criminal Court (ICC) face alleged delays.
Kristina Conti, ICC Assistant to Counsel, accused Duterte’s camp of using stalling tactics to manipulate public opinion ahead of the 2025 midterm elections and a possible impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Conti cited a confidential move to disqualify two of the three ICC judges overseeing the case, leaving only one judge to continue hearings. She warned that such actions could significantly delay the already prolonged case concerning Duterte’s war on drugs.
“This case is already eight to nine years delayed. We hope future proceedings won’t follow this same path,” Conti said, noting continued harassment from Duterte supporters toward the victims’ families.
