Tulfo, Tingog top last-minute preference polls

Candidates under the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas banner continue to dominate the senatorial polls less than a week before the midterm elections, a nationwide survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed.

In a statement yesterday, the pollster said respondents were asked who they would most likely vote for if the senatorial elections were held on the day of the survey.

ACT-CIS Party-list nominee Erwin Tulfo reclaimed the top spot this May, garnering 45% support, representing an increase of 2 percentage points from April.

Senator Bong Go slipped to second place with 43%, down by 2 points.

Former Senate President Tito Sotto rose to 3rd place with 37%, followed by Senator Lito Lapid and broadcaster Ben Tulfo, who are tied at 34%.

Former Senator Ping Lacson made a notable comeback, jumping to 6th place from 11th after increasing his support to 32%.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay and Senator Bato Dela Rosa are tied in the 7th-8th spots with 31%.

Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar remains steady in 10th place with 30%, while Senator Pia Cayetano dropped to 9th-10th with 30%.

Senators Bong Revilla and Imee Marcos are tied in 11th-12th place with 29%.

Just outside the top 12 are former Senator Manny Pacquiao, TV host Willie Revillame, and former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, who all received 24% preference.

Not far behind were former Senator Bam Aquino with 23% and former Senator Kiko Pangilinan with 21%.

The survey, commissioned by the Stratbase Group, was conducted from May 2 to 6 among 1,800 respondents.

Strabase President Dindo Manhit said the latest results reflect both the strong position of administration-backed senatorial candidates and the intense competition this midterm cycle, particularly for the final two spots in the magic 12.

“This continued dominance by several administration-backed candidates reflects the enduring influence of strong branding, bolstered by access to machinery and sustained visibility of these candidates throughout the campaign period,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, Tingog Party-list emerged as the top choice among party-list groups, as indicated by the latest OCTA Research survey conducted from April 20 to 24, garnering 5.68% of voter preference nationwide.

The result places Tingog as the leading party-list group in the country just weeks before the national elections.

“This support was not won overnight,” said Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez.

“It was earned by being present, especially in areas where help often comes late, or not at all. We’re grateful for the trust, and even more determined to live up to it,” the group said in a statement.

Tingog said it prioritizes bringing essential government programs closer to the people through Tingog Centers, medical caravans, livelihood assistance, and immediate relief during disasters.
