PNP denies hand in Que murder, Pulong Duterte bar assault leaks

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday denied involvement in the unauthorized release of sensitive materials linked to two separate high-profile cases — the Anson Que kidnap-murder case and the alleged bar assault involving Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo firmly stated that the police did not leak the extrajudicial confession of David Tan Liao, who implicated Alvin Que in the killing of his father, businessman Anson Que. Fajardo stressed the document is “highly confidential” and not for public release Following a media briefing at Camp Crame where the case was discussed, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil ordered a probe to identify who may have leaked the confession.

He assured that anyone found responsible for the breach would be held accountable.

Separately, the PNP also denied leaking a viral CCTV video showing Rep. Duterte allegedly assaulting a man in a Davao City bar.

The footage and an affidavit from the complainant — who filed charges of physical injury and grave threats before the Department of Justice — have circulated online, but the PNP said it does not possess nor disseminate such materials.

The PNP reiterated its respect for due process and clarified it will only assist in the investigations if officially requested by appropriate authorities.

The PNP emphasized that any dissemination of evidence, whether in the form of video footage or affidavits, must come through legal and authorized channels to ensure the integrity of ongoing investigations.

Both cases have drawn significant public attention, prompting calls for transparency while also raising concerns over the handling of confidential information.

Authorities urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified or sensitive content on social media, noting that doing so could compromise legal proceedings or violate privacy laws.

The PNP assured that it remains committed to upholding the rule of law and will cooperate fully with the Department of Justice and other concerned agencies in resolving both cases.
