Alyansa bets among top Senate candidates

Five candidates from the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas (ABP) are poised to win Senate seats in the 2025 midterm elections, according to the latest PAHAYAG Senate Preference Survey by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc.

Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) candidate Christopher “Bong” Go leads the race with 42% nationwide support. He is followed closely by opposition candidate Bam Aquino with 41%, Francis Pangilinan with 36%, and Ronald Dela Rosa with 35%, cementing their positions as key front-runners.

The survey, conducted among 3,000 registered voters across five major regions, reveals regional voting patterns. Go dominates in the Visayas and Mindanao, where his ally Dela Rosa also polls strongly. Meanwhile, Aquino and Pangilinan lead in Metro Manila and Luzon, highlighting a geographic divide in political support.

ABP candidates Panfilo Lacson (32%), Erwin Tulfo, Tito Sotto, and Pia Cayetano (28% each) are also polling competitively. Independent hopefuls Ben Tulfo, Rodante Marcoleta, and Imee Marcos each garnered 23%, while Manny Pacquiao followed with 22%.

Candidates just outside the “Magic 12” include Francis Tolentino (21%), Heidi Mendoza (20%), and Abby Binay (18%).

The survey also profiled the electorate: 80% of respondents were aged 18 to 49, mostly college-educated, and nearly half had family members working as Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Politically, 45% identified as anti-Marcos, 15% as pro-Marcos, and the rest remained neutral.

“If elections were held during the survey period, the projected Magic 12 would include five (5) ABP candidates, four (4) backed by the Dutertes, two (2) from the Liberal Party/Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino, and one (1) independent,” PUBLiCUS Asia said.
