Philippine Airlines (PAL) started operating a nonstop flight service between Cebu and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
The airline’s inaugural flight PR 587 was celebrated with a water cannon salute and cake-slicing ceremony before departing from Mactan-Cebu International Airport on May 2.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our inaugural flight from Cebu to Ho Chi Minh City and kick off a new chapter in PAL’s ongoing commitment to expanding regional connectivity,” PAL president and chief operating officer Captain Stanley Ng said.
“This landmark Cebu-Vietnam route strengthens bilateral ties between the Philippines and Vietnam, our next-door neighbor to the west, while providing our passengers with greater convenience and more travel options to explore two of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic cities – Saigon and Cebu,” he added.
The Cebu-Ho Chi Minh City flights depart from Mactan-Cebu International Airport every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Meanwhile, the return PAL flights depart from Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.
The PAL Cebu-Saigon service will be flown with Airbus A321 jetliners seating up to 199 passengers in both Business Class and Economy, complementing the existing eight weekly flights between Manila and Ho Chi Minh City.
PAL will offer 10 weekly Manila-Hanoi-Manila flights by June 1 and will likewise launch a new route between Manila and Da Nang on July 1.
