Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez has recognized the contributions of legal aid lawyers in the pursuit of justice in the country.
Lopez paid tribute to the lawyers in remarks at the induction ceremony of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) – Camarines Sur Chapter in Naga City.
“Your actions today define the future of our profession. When a chapter like IBP-Camarines Sur chooses to lead with compassion, competence, and courage, you remind us all what it means to be a true advocate–not only of law, but of justice,” he said.
Lopez, chairman of the SC sub-committee on the IBP oversight, reminded the lawyers that legal aid is not simply an act of charity, but a constitutional duty.
