President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. paid tribute to Filipino workers on Thursday, highlighting their vital role in nation-building and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protect their rights and welfare.
In his Labor Day message, Mr. Marcos described work as more than a personal endeavor, calling it a “noble contribution to the nation’s history.”
He praised the dedication of workers who, through their daily efforts for their families, help uplift society as a whole.
“Each day that the Filipino worker labors for themselves and their family, they embody a spirit of service for the greater good,” the President said.
“This day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices our workers make and the dignity they bring to our nation,” he added.
The president called for the commemoration to be a moment of reflection and action, urging the creation of concrete measures to meet family needs, ensure workplace safety, and safeguard the right of every worker to a better future.
“Our policies must reflect a firm belief that the true wealth of the country is not measured in profit, but in the dignity of those who toil for it,” he said.
The President stressed that the government is not a passive observer in national development, but an active partner of the people in building a “Bagong Pilipinas” — a society that is just, inclusive, and fair.
He also assured the labor sector that his administration is unwavering in its mission to support their growth and prosperity.
“You can be certain that the government stands by you — not just out of obligation, but out of gratitude and recognition of your true value,” he said.
