NCRPO supports media security task force

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), led by MGen. Anthony Aberin, has expressed full support for the nationwide launch of the PNP Media Security Vanguard, a joint initiative with the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) aimed at protecting journalists and promoting press freedom.

The program, launched in the lead-up to the 2025 National and Local Elections, seeks to provide a safer environment for media practitioners amid increasing threats. It includes coordinated efforts by NCRPO Public Information Officers to address incidents of harassment and respond to media-related security concerns.

Training and capacity-building activities are also part of the initiative to better equip police officers in managing press-related issues. The program reinforces the role of journalists as essential partners in promoting peace, transparency, and public service.

Aberin reiterated the NCRPO’s commitment to defending press freedom, stating that the media are key allies in the region’s public safety efforts. He stressed that journalists in Metro Manila should be able to work without fear or intimidation.
