MMDA retains Go as special ops group chief

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) decided to retain Gabriel Go as head of the Special Operations Group-Strike Force (SOG-SF), responsible for removing obstructions to ensure smooth vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Following the instruction of MMDA Chairman Don Artes, Go will participate in a five-day training mentorship program focused on traffic management.

This program will emphasize leadership, courtesy, and discipline — paying special attention to stress and anger management.

The MMDA earlier issued a show cause order to Go after he got involved in an incident captured on a viral video, where he was seen scolding a police captain for illegal parking during a road clearing operation in Quezon City.

Artes clarified that his decision regarding Go is intended for self-improvement rather than as a punishment.

The five-day mentorship coaching will be conducted under the supervision of Edison Nebrija from the MMDA Traffic Education Division.

Regarding the administrative complaint against Go for discourtesy toward a police officer during clearing operations on March 25, the MMDA Legal and Legislative Affairs Staff issued a reprimand for simple discourtesy, along with a stern warning that any future instances will be dealt with more severely.
