International author Edna Bautista Binkowski, receives a special citation from the Czech Republic’s Defense Minister Jana Cernochova during a recent wreath-laying ceremony at the Capas National Shrine in honor of the 14 Czechoslovaks who served in Bataan during WWII.
Binkowski’s book “Karel Aster: The Last Czech,” tells about a fascinating story of the 14 fallen Czechs had earned admiration and gratitude from the Defense Ministry delegation.
“It was a very special day of my life. It was a surprise. I was floating on air, the highest honor I’ve ever received,” she said.
Binkowski revealed that she would be a part of the Czech-Philippines Foundation which will promote strong diplomatic and trade relations between the Czech Republic and the Philippines.
