SC reaffirms pledge to uphold gender justice

THE Supreme Court (SC) has reaffirmed its commitment to uphold gender justice, highlighting the importance of resisting various forms of oppression such as patriarchal cultures, economic inequality, religious suppression, militarization, and environmental exploitation.

Acting Chief Justice Marvic Leonen called on SC personnel to uphold the highest standards of integrity and equality in the judiciary.

He urged them to “work towards a judiciary free from sexual harassment, corruption, and fear… one that treats everyone equally, whether you are wealthy, a tycoon, a farmer, or a worker.”

The High Tribunal reiterated its longstanding support for the “One Billion Rising” campaign, a worldwide movement to end violence against women and girls.
