The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has announced that the People’s Republic of China is scheduled to launch a Long March 8A rocket on Saturday.
The launch is expected to take place between 5:53 PM and 6:42 PM from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan, China.
In response to this event, the OCD has issued a memorandum to relevant agencies, directing them to take necessary measures to ensure public safety in coastal areas potentially affected by the rocket launch.
The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) has issued a crucial warning to the public regarding potential rocket debris. PhilSA emphasizes that retrieving or approaching any debris should be strictly avoided, as it may contain toxic substances such as rocket fuel.
In cases where contact with debris is unavoidable, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is strongly recommended.
The public is urged to immediately report any suspected sightings of debris, both at sea and on land, to local authorities.
