Architecture students from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde showcased their work in the annual Portfolio Review (PO.RE), marking its 10th year as a platform for creativity and collaboration.
Organized by the Benilde Architecture Program and the Social and Academic Guild for Architecture (SAGA), the event highlighted projects focused on sustainability, innovation, and architectural exploration.
“The exhibit promotes healthy competition and sets quality standards for the community,” SAGA advisor Antonio Inigo Tiosejo III said.
Five awards were presented following a selection process.
Studio Bjorn’s Neon Futures 2100 won the Dean’s Choice award. The project examines speculative solutions for various communities, addressing social, environmental, and technological factors. It was developed by Kevin Altarejos, Julianna Felicia, Raphael Galang, and Ecko Nunag under the mentorship of Gino Bjorn Abrera.
Studio Garcia’s W Hotel Camiguin received the Chairman’s Choice award. Designed by Anne Alvarez under the guidance of Manolet Garcia, the project envisions a hotel on Guimaras Island’s Natago Beach, transforming the site of a 2006 oil spill into an ecological restoration hub.
Ephemeral Mobility of Syntax Academe and Studio A.T.3 was named Mentor’s Choice. The project explores temporary architecture to address mobility issues in public transport spaces. The team, mentored by Jiro Coronado and Tiosejo, included 15 students.
Before _ Zero and Studio Viola’s Project Manda won the People’s Choice award. The project focuses on Mandaluyong’s urban landscape, reimagining overlooked spaces. It was created by Angelica Tiu, Gwyneth Ardiente, and Arisander Ocena, guided by Enzo Belandres and Omar Viola.
Studio DWR, led by Andro Magat, was named Studio of the Year for its approach to typological explorations and architectural problem-solving.
