NHCP commemorates Rizal Day with special exhibit

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) is set to open an exhibit in honor of national hero Jose Rizal’s martyrdom.

Opening on Dec. 30, Rizal Day, the “Remembering Rizal in Artworks and Monuments” exhibit will feature various artworks from the NHCP’s collection, showcasing Rizal’s life, ideologies, and sacrifices. It offers a deeper understanding of his influence on the country.

The exhibition includes works such as the painting Exile in Dapitan by National Artist Carlos Francisco, Rizal’s terracotta statuette Triumph of Death Over Life, and the portrait Rizal as a Mason by renowned artist Fernando Amorsolo.

The exhibit will run for a month, starting on Rizal Day, and can be viewed at the main lobby and second floor of the NHCP Main Building in Manila. It is part of the 128th commemoration of Rizal Day, themed “Rizal: Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Buhay at Aral Aming Nilalandas.”
