PLDT, Smart expand e-waste recycling program with more drop-off points

Telecom firms PLDT and Smart are expanding their e-waste recycling initiative, “Be Kind. Recycle,” by increasing the number of stores accepting old devices for responsible disposal.

The program encourages Filipinos to drop off outdated gadgets, such as phones, tablets, and routers, at participating stores for recycling.

As more new devices are released, many users upgrade to the latest models, leaving behind old gadgets. Improper disposal of electronic waste, or e-waste, poses environmental risks, including potential pollution from hazardous components in landfills.

E-waste bins for gadgets are also available in select Robinsons Malls and SM Supermalls

Recycling e-waste reduces the need for extracting rare metals, supports sustainable electronics production, and helps create jobs in the circular economy. PLDT and Smart’s program ensures that collected devices are dismantled and processed in accredited facilities, complying with environmental and data privacy regulations.

Participating stores are located across Metro Manila and other regions. E-waste bins are also available in select Robinsons Malls and SM Supermalls.
