DOH launches Mandaluyong patient safety plan

The Department of Health (DOH) has unveiled the Mandaluyong Declaration, a comprehensive document outlining strategies to enhance patient safety across primary care, hospital care, and governance structures within the healthcare system.

DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa emphasized that patient safety transcends the confines of hospital settings, extending into communities, rural pharmacies, remote health centers, and even the care provided at home.

The declaration emerged as a significant outcome of the 7th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety, a forum that convened global health leaders and experts to prioritize patient safety within all facets of healthcare systems.

The Mandaluyong Declaration articulates several key strategies aimed at fortifying patient safety, with a strong emphasis on fostering international collaboration to achieve these goals effectively.

A central tenet of the declaration is the advancement of leadership and governance frameworks to ensure the robust and consistent implementation of patient safety measures throughout all healthcare environments.
