DAR donates P3.55-m gear to Surigao farmers

THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has donated P3.55 million worth of farming equipment to two agrarian reform beneficiary organizations in Surigao del Norte in a bid to boost rice production in the province.

Rocky Aborro, chairman of the Roxas Community Agrarian Reform Cooperative based in Brgy. Roxas, expressed gratitude for the support that they received.

“We are very thankful to the DAR for this FME (farm machinery and equipment). It is a great help to our cooperative and to all farmers in need. We hope this kind of assistance continues so more ARBs can benefit,” Aborro said in a statement.

The machines can perform six key operations —gathering, transporting, reaping, threshing, cleaning and bagging— making the harvesting process faster, cost efficient, and labor-saving.
