4 dead, 2 injured in early morning fire in Pasay

Four people died, and two others were injured in a fire of still unknown origin that broke out early Saturday morning in a densely populated barangay in Pasay City.

In an interview with radio station DZBB, Senior Fire Officer 1 Resmond Germino, the chief public information officer of the Pasay City Fire Station, reported that the bodies of four individuals — a mother, a 7-year-old boy, a teenager, and a 40-year-old man — were retrieved.

Germino stated that one of those injured suffered a first-degree burn, while the other sustained a foot injury.

The fire broke out at 4:35 a.m. in a row of houses on Esteban Street near the creek in Barangay 177 in Malibay, where most houses were built with light materials. Firefighters and private volunteers from southern Metro Manila managed to control the fire around 7 a.m. and extinguished it after more than an hour. Arson investigators are currently looking into the cause of the blaze and assessing the damage.
