Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD), which operates Clark International Airport (CRK), expects a significant increase in passenger traffic this year with the transfer of some turboprop operations from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
LIPAD chief executive Noel Manankil said passenger traffic is projected to reach between 3.3 million and 3.4 million this year, up from 2.4 million passengers last year.
“The original forecast was 3 million passengers, but with the inclusion of turboprop we are looking at probably 3.3 million to 3.4 million this year,” he said.
Cebu Pacific earlier announced that it would gradually transfer its turboprop aircraft operations from NAIA Terminal 2 to Clark International Airport.
The transfer is in line with the resolution issued by the Manila Slot Coordination Committee of the Department of Transportation on Dec. 3, 2024.
Effective March 30, 2025, Cebu Pacific flights from Manila to Masbate, Siargao will relocate to Clark International Airport (CRK).
The turboprop operations of Philippine Airlines (PAL) will also be transferred by October this year.
Domestic passenger traffic at Clark surged 32 percent in 2024, while international passenger numbers rose 15 percent.
Meanwhile, domestic flights increased 56 percent, and international flights grew by 12 percent.
CRK was named International Airport of the Year-Philippines at the prestigious 2024 TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards-Asia for its exceptional passenger services and its transformative contributions to the aviation industry.
The airport’s innovative initiatives, including the implementation of Minimum Performance Specifications and Standards (MPSS), set benchmarks for quality and operational efficiency.
Regular audits conducted by the Airports Council International (ACI), alongside robust passenger feedback systems, ensure that CRK consistently meets global standards and enhances the travel experience.
As a member of ACI, representing over 2,100 airports worldwide, CRK upholds the highest standards in the aviation industry and strengthens its position as a vital gateway for both local and international travelers.
