FCDU loans rise 0.7% to $15.75b

Outstanding loans granted by Foreign Currency Deposit Units (FCDU) of banks rose 0.7 percent to $15.75 billion as of end-September 2024 from the end-June 2024 level of $15.63 billion as disbursements exceeded principal repayments, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said over the weekend.

It said that on a year-on-year basis, outstanding FCDU loans rose 1.6 percent from the end-September 2023 level of $15.50 billion.

The maturity profile of the FCDU loan portfolio remained predominantly medium- to long-term [or those payable over a term of more than one year], which comprised 77.3 percent of total, slightly higher than 76.7 percent from the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, FCDU deposit liabilities reached $57.46 billion as of end-September 2024, up by 4.2 percent from the end-June 2024 level of $55.16 billion.

FCDU deposit liabilities also increased $5.67 billion or by 10.9 percent from the end-September 2023 level of $51.80 billion.
