The Filipino Chinese Shisi Townmate Association held its 34th founding anniversary and induction ceremony of its 17th council of officers, 9th batch of women’s group and youth group officers and fifth batch of chamber of commerce officers on April 13, 2025 at the East Ocean Palace Restaurant in Paranaque City.
Honorary chairman Agostino Gan, who also served as the chairman of the assembly, thanked the officers for their cooperation which helped the association run smoothly, and expressed gratitude for the dedication of the members and fellow townmates.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of newly elected chairman Orlando Bongat, the association would move forward with greater unity and innovation in service of their hometown in Shishi, China.
New chairman Orlando Bongat said that for 34 years, the Filipino-Chinese Shishi Townmate Association has been a home for Shishi people in the Philippines, connecting their hometown to the Philippines.
He expressed hope that the association would continue its traditions and strengthen China-Philippines friendship, encouraging everyone to work together for an even brighter future.
Shishi Municipal Government leader and Overseas Chinese Association chairman Qiu Yongfeng acted as the inducting officer, overseeing the official handover of the seal and delivering a speech at the ceremony.
Consultant Lin Yuyan inducted the officers of the women’s committee, while honorary chairman Agostino Gan led the induction for the youth committee.
Counselor and consul general Wang Yue of the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) vice [resident George Chiu, Federation of Filipino-Chinese Associations of the Philippines Foundation Inc. (FFCAP) chairman Dante Chua, Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PCCCII) president Arian Hao, World Shishi Hometown Association president Lin Youbi and Hong Kong Shishi Hometown Association president Wang Renjiang all delivered speeches, offering their congratulations and expressing strong support for the association’s efforts to strengthen ties between the Philippines and Shishi.
